Quantal Quetzal is codename for Ubuntu 12.10

Quetzal Bird

Mark Shuttleworth announced the codename for Ubuntu 12.10. Quantal Quetzal is the codename ubuntu 12.10 candidate in the post in a blog by Shuttleworth. Quantal Quetzal as the successor of ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) to be released this week.

Quetzal is a family of birds found in western Mexico with a mostly green hair color. Shuttleworth said that other names, such as "Queer Quocka" would suggest a brown color theme; as refresh the look and typography in 12.10, "something brown and full of color and light are called". "Quantal" is defined as either referring to something that exists only in one of two possible states in physics, or appoint an "all or nothing" response in biology. In the case of Ubuntu though, is a reference to the project OpenStack Quantumvirtual network.
