LG Display makes 5-inch Display Panel with 1080p

Korean LG plans to conquer the smartphone market with a new display panel that is said to beat a new record in the class, or how about 1080p at only 5 inches. More pixels per square inch is the hottest trend in mobile handsets. One of the giants in the field is Korean LG Display, which not only produces display panels to their own mobile phones but also sells panels to competitors such as Apple, Nokia and HTC.

With the world's highest resolution smartphone display, LG Display Continues to REMAIN a step ahead in Developing the most innovative in display technology products. Now revealed a new screen panel that sets new record in the class of 1920 x 1080 pixels at only 5 inches. It provides about 440 pixels per square inch (ppi), which can be compared against, for instance Iphone 4/4S at 326 ppi or Sony Xperia S with 342 ppi.

The screen is based on AH-IPS technology and will offer good image quality, wide viewing angles, low response time and high light transmission. The latter enables mobile phone manufacturers to cut down the backlight, thereby saving battery life.Technology should also be well suited for use in outdoor environments.

LG demonstrates the new display panel in early June and the first products expected to emerge in the second half. The Koreans, however, is not alone in high-resolution display panels. Japanese Toshiba on the entire 2560 x 1600 pixels of 6.1 inches for surf boards and Tablet PCs.
